it’s finally feeling like spring in chicago. mid 70′s today and 80′s tomorrow . . . we’ve been waiting long winter months for sunshine and warmth.

my favorite style and go-to outfit for spring/summer is a long necklace paired with a tank top while wearing jeans and a cute sandle or heel. the eg team has designed some great long necklaces. my favorite is the lana (5 strands of chain with small clusters of stones throughout the necklace).

bride of the week

the eg bride we’re loving this week is laura from evanston, il. laura came to our store about a year ago looking to design bridesmaid jewelry. laura designed a different pair of earrings for each girl to compliment their stlye and personality (design your own). every earring was made in silver with opalite but each girl had a different style earring.

it has been one year since my wedding and as i think back – as i have almost every day – one of the fondest memories i have is how beautiful the bridesmaids looked with the jewelry you helped me create. i still hear from each of them how much they love it and still wear it. when i look at the pictures, it absolutely stand out and makes the whole wedding even more beautiful. i can’t thank you all enough for the creativity and support – you truly helped to make my perfect day even more special. my only regret is that i didn’t buy something for myself! thank you from the bottom of my heart.

photo shoot: part 1

about two months ago we got to be part of a gerber + scarpelli photoshoot. we provided jewelry, colorful flowers from hello darling, and bridal dresses from michelle rahn. the shoot was located in an awesome warehouse in the west loop, but . . . there was no heat! it’s still a bit cold in march in chicago. at that time we were all still wearing winter coats. props to the models for wearing strapless dresses in the cold. i was happy to be in my super thick sweater, gloves, and jacket.

enjoy more behind the scenes images from the photo shoot. while the models were being photographed, i was setting up product shots of our jewelry. product shots can be very tedious and time consuming to make sure chain and stones lay just right.

bride of the week: jen schefft

jenn schefft, of The Bachelorette fame, recently tied the knot in chicago, and she picked us to design custom pearl bracelets for herself and her bridesmaids!  jenn was super easy to work with and so happy to be getting married. she chose the becca bracelet for herself and the kristen bracelet for her bridesmaids. jenn and i agreed that a bracelet would compliment her dress perfectly. as with every bride that we work with, we wanted to make sure she felt absolutely stunning on her day!

it’s design week here at erin gallagher. well it’s going longer than expected. the design team and myself are having a blast creating new pieces. there are chains, large pearls, fun vintage clasps, crystals, and leather covering our work tables. visit us and get a sneak peek at our new designs. tell us what you think! we always appreciate feedback.

i’ve never seen such a fun wedding entrance. i couldn’t stop laughing, then i wanted to dance. i love that this bride wanted something fun, unique, and memorable. everyone in the wedding party got into the brides idea and went for it. i can only image that if the ceremony started this way, the reception could only be better! wish i had been invited to the wedding!

josey wales

i’m sad to report that our beloved dog josey passed away. now that we look back, josey was a pretty sick dog. we miss her terribly. the store is a little more quiet without her greeting every customer with feet kisses.

it’s good to talk about her and all her funny little quirks. the girls and i always knew when josey was done with being in the store . . . she would grab a piece of trash, then run around the jewelry cases. i tried to get josey fit and took her for runs. josey thought she was so sneaky acting that she needed to pee so she could have a short break from running.

dave and i will be ready for a new dog soon. when we’re ready, we’ll return to arf house, a non-kill animal shelter, to find our next furry friend.

julie & julia

the eg team lucked out. we were giving free tickets to see a sneak viewing of the new meryl streep movie, julie & julia. last night we made our way out of the west loop (a rare occassion) to the craziness of michigan ave. every person was searched before entering the theater. they were serious about movie piracy. even during the movie, men walked the aisles with night vision goggles. intense!

it was a cute movie. i now feel as though i need to start cooking. dave would think i’m a domestic goddess.

the movie made me think of a great 1970′s snl skit . . . julia child (dan aykroyd) cooking duck! you’ll need a knife… a very, very, very sharp knife.

moving sale

who doesn’t love a sale? i know i’m always looking for a good deal.

erin gallagher will be leaving the west loop and moving north to our new home in lincoln park at the end of september.  the eg team is sad to be leaving, but excited for our new adventure on halsted. we’re moving to 2034 n halsted, 60614 (between armitage and dickens). to kick off moving, the eg team is having a moving sale! help us get rid of inventory and make our move a little bit smoother!

sorry all i’ve been absent for awhile. the eg team has been super busy getting ready for our big move from the west loop to lincoln park. i will try much better in keeping everyone posted. i will post images soon of the new space!

2034 n halsted

that’s right you can now find us at 2034 n halsted in lincoln park. last friday we had a long, exhausting day, but everyone was full of energy for the big move. the antique cases were moved without a scratch. all my sons moving company was a huge help. the eg team will always give them a good review!

we absolutely love our new store. the back end of the space has a huge skylight and large side doors, perfect for parties! it will be gorgeous in the fall. everyone has a place for their work and no longer stepping over each other. i just can’t get over how much we love the space!

not only is it a great space, but the neighborhood has been very inviting. people walking by have stopped in to welcome us to the hood. i’m excited to be more familiar with the neighborhood and settled in the new digs!

team bonding: skydiving

i’ve been extremely bad about blogging. lots has happened and i haven’t shared. get ready for new stories!

in the beginning of august the eg team got out of the west loop for one day for some team bonding. we’re not a typical store or team so we decided that we needed to do something that wasn’t a typically outing . . . skydiving!!! crazy! that’s right we took a short trip to wisconsin, just outside of milwaukee, to skydive midwest.

after filling out paper work (signing over our life) we headed to the “classroom”. an instructor explained everything about equipment, what would happen, and what to and not to do. the best part was watching christi’s facial expressions. she’s looking a little uneasy

we’re moving – again!

you’ve read correctly. we’re moving again! we found a great space close by on webster. the eg team is extremely excited for this move. we’re sad to leave, but know this is the right move for us.

penelope cruz has been spotted with a 3-carat sapphire engagement ring.

penelope’s ring is breath-taking. i love that she sporting a colored stone. we all love the traditional diamond ring, but it’s refreshing to see women having fun with their engagement rings. i’ve been working with more brides and couples who want to design a ring with a colored stone, whether it’s a sapphire, ruby, or emerald.

when working with customers, i make sure that they’ll love the ring in 10, 20, 50 years later. you have to image yourself wearing it everyday. if you can’t see yourself loving it later, then don’t purchase a colored stone engagement ring.

i designed the madison emerald engagement ring and am absolutely in love. the diamonds add a little bling and enhance the emerald green. it was an eg team effort to create this beauty. stunning!

we’re selling through fast! our moving sale in the store started saturday and customers have flocked the store looking for good deals. the sale continues until we move! we’re moving at the end of February to 1013 w webster. there is still plenty of jewelry left. make it to the store before everything is completely gone!

not only are we selling jewelry, but some of our furniture and decorative pieces (mirrors, branches, etc) are up for grabs as well. the less we have to move, the better

Catering to groups as large as 25, the two-hour events allow participants to design their own pieces by stepping up to Gallagher’s so-called “gem bar,” where they select a jewelry style, then mix and match metals and stones. Gallagher’s employees are also on hand to offer design advice or draft mockups of guests’ creations. After the event, Gallagher hand-makes each piece and sends it directly to its creator, or to hosts so they can present the gifts themselves. it’s a classic looking earring, but the heavier chain and dark metal (oxidized silver) give the earring an edgier look. the crystal rhinestone balls at the end of the earring add bling. perfect worn with a with a black dress. i suggest pairing the jessa earring with a bracelet.

how it happened:

i received an emergency call yesterday that a certain someone from vanity fair was looking for jewelry for the 2010 oscars. the brainstorming process had begun. i was on the mission to create a glamorous, stunning earring and bracelet. stones were all over the worktable (they still are). christi, our office manager, become my model, trying on all my creations. through many fittings, in put from all the girls, i think we’ve created a winner!

spring fashion tip

spring reminds us of pearls, but when most of us think of pearls we think . . . a single strand pearl necklace or pearl stud earrings. i use to not be a huge fan or pearls. i started playing with pearls; added stones and pearls together and designed new fun styles. i have fallen in love with pearls! i no longer think of pearls as a preppy accessory. it is fun, colorful, classic, and fashion forward.

new home

construction on our new home is done. we moved in yesterday and have been working hard on the final touches; painting, hanging shelves, organizing, and making it feel like home. we’re excited and can’t wait to open our doors this coming monday, april 5.

open for business

we have been open for one week in the new location and all the girls here at erin gallagher jewelry are in love. everyone has a good vibe when they come to work. hosting a party and being open for a weekend was our real test run. the party was successful, as well as the weekend! check out our new home . . . we love visitors!

eg bride, bernadette, was married on a beautiful winter day in chicago. bernadette’s hubby gave her the aretha necklace to wear for the wedding. she had been eyeing the piece for months. close friends gave a few helpful hints to the groom. the message was received. when given the aretha necklace bernadette was filled with tears of joy. she received a necklace she loved, but more importantly it came from the man she loved.

beautiful! the color and style of chandra’s weddings leaves you smiling. when i saw these pictures i had a huge grin on my face. chandra chose the grace earrings for herself and the meg earrings for her bridesmaids. all earrings were in gold-fill with a citrine stone. the citrine pulled in the yellow/gold tones.

the ladies of erin gallagher suprised ms erin gallagher with a baby shower yesterday. a small gathering at our boutique in lincoln park. this time the ladies of erin gallagher accessorized baby gallagher. each girl took a theme; changing, feeding, bath time, and bed time. the shower was a great time to talk, laugh, and eat.
